nano-scavengers
One of the most useful investigations uses nano-particles
to clean the water. They introduced micro-particles, like titanium dioxide that
works as cleaners. This nano-scavengers (how they are called) can destroy or
adhere to the contaminant agent and make them disappear. But this technology
has a problem, and is how to eliminate this nano-scavengers, cause in this
condition, the water is not suitable for human consumption. Not long ago,
scientists from Stanford University developed a method that eliminates all the
nano-particles present in the water. With this system, they eliminated the
E-Coli, a bacterium present in the non-potable water.
The challenges for food engineers and for all the
scientists are find new particles that can clean other contaminant agent in water,
to make it 100% potable. And, why not, find new procedures with nanotechnology that can help us to clan all the food.
If this new techniques prosper, can benefit many
people, especially those who don’t have accesses to potable water. And in the future, this technology can help us to survive, cause water shortage is a problem that we are already living.
