English Language Challenges...

Image
My experience learning English at university has been quite interesting. The truth is that this is my first semester studying at university and I did not know what I expected. I have memories of my school classes where everything was very monotonous and boring, but in general so far this semester, I had a good experience. The classes are entertaining and dynamic, with games that make learning more fun. I think the use of blogs also helps a lot, since it is also a dynamic way to improve our skills in written communication. Besides, blogs allowing us to express our opinions and thoughts on various issues and know what others think about it. I think I have to improve my English in all aspects, mostly in terms of pronunciation. I still have a hard time communicating. I would love to travel to an English-speaking country to learn English directly with natives, be cause I think the best way to learn is being surrounded by people who speak English, because you s

Changes...

I believe that education is an area that must be in constant change. The world is dynamic, there are always new problems or needs that must be solved, so it's important to always update the curriculum of the career, because today something may be necessary, but in the future it may be obsolete. For the same reason, I think that it isn't right to have the same curriculum for years, when you have to train professionals that are in tune with the environment, so the people in charge of the programs should always be studying and modifying according to the professionals that are needed and will be needed. I also think that the professional careers in Chile are very long. In USA, for example, the programs are usually short, and they train professionals with the same or more competencies than Chileans. In addition to that, they have some of the best universities in the world. They are a clear example that studying a thousand years a career doesn't form better professional

In my opinion...

What is your opinion about buying instead of adopting pets? I think there are so many homeless animals that can be adopted that it is unnecessary to buy a pet. Some prefer to buy because they want a pet of a specific breed, but stray animals can be as cute and good as any other animal. Also, raising animals for the sole purpose of selling them is for me one of the most cruel action that exists, we don't know the conditions they may be in and some of them force females to give birth only to sell their puppies. What is your opinion about recycling? I think we are at a point where we have damaged our environment so much that it is necessary to take action to repair this damage. Recycling is an action that can help improve our environment, and it is something so easy, simple and cheap that it is available to everyone.  Simple actions such as separating what can be recycled from our garbage, helps to reduce the pollution that has increased in recent years. Cartoons, animes and TV series

When I was a kid, I was a fan of all the Nickelodeon cartoons, like Hey Arnold, Doug or The Thornberrys. I couldn't spend a day without watching them, it was an obsession. I watch them before and after school, when I was eating or before sleep. But when I grow up, I stop watching these cartoons.  Over the time, when i was a teenager, I met a group of friends who were fanatics of the anime. I can't say that I’m a big fan, but i watched a lot of different anime and i read manga too. I remembered that the first anime they recommend me was Death Note (a classic), and i really enjoy it.   With my friends we have different preferences when it comes to watching something, but for us, is always a good conversation, because we can recommend each other cartoons or anime or movies or series that are different from the ones that we always watch.  But with my family is a little harder, we all have different ages and we enjoy different thing, but we all can reunited

Future...

Since I started my university studies, I have known that I want to do postgraduate studies, because this days, to apply for a good job, it's no longer enough to have a university degree, is necessary to specialize and continue studying. I know that I want to continue studying after finishing the degree, but the question is: what to study?  In Chile there are many options, like Master in food science or PhD in nutrition and food i n the University of Chile, there are also programs in other universities .   One of the plans offered is the Master in environmental management and planning. It's an interfaculty program, that's mean that student can apply from different careers.  I think it is a very interesting Master, since it allows studying, from the perspective of a food engineer, the impacts that the food industry causes on the environment. I would like to have the option to do my studies abroad, maybe in Spain (they have good programs)

Future work

At this time in my life, I am a little confused about what I am going to do in the future. There are so many different options and jobs that it is difficult to make a decision about what to do for the rest of the life. Probably will be something related to food, because I’m studying food engineering.  Jeje. But what I know is that I would like to have an outdoor job, and travel around the world to learn about new cultures, that would give me the opportunity to learn other ways to do my future work. I have some ideas of what I might like, but I feel that there is still much to learn to make a decision like this. But from what I have studied during these almost two years, what has most attracted my attention has been sensory evaluation . S ensory evaluation is a branch that uses all the senses to evaluate a product. As my major is in food science, this analysis is applied to new foods that are being created. Regarding the sa

nano-scavengers

In the last few years, nanotechnology has become an important technique that has been invest in so many different fields. One of them is the food industry, they even have their own name Nano-food. In this business, the nano-particles can be used in different aspects, from the beginning to the end of the process. They are used in cultivation, in production, even in packaging.  One of the most useful investigations uses nano-particles to clean the water. They introduced micro-particles, like titanium dioxide that works as cleaners. This nano-scavengers (how they are called) can destroy or adhere to the contaminant agent and make them disappear. But this technology has a problem, and is how to eliminate this nano-scavengers, cause in this condition, the water is not suitable for human consumption. Not long ago, scientists from Stanford University developed a method that eliminates all the nano-particles present in the water. With this system, they eliminated the E-Coli, a bacte
